CHRISTMAS @ SADHANA

The eve of Christmas is all about celebration, about sharing, about happiness and joy, family and friends. But to Akanksha, it this Christmas was very much more than just them. To the team, it was the best day so far. There were just smiles all the way through out the day. It was all a special day for Akanksha. The Christmas was celebrated at SADHANA INSTITUTE FOR MENTALLY CHALLENGED in Hyderabad. It is a home for 52 children and a school for around 31 students who are special care children. Sadhana was not just another place that Akanksha visits all the time. But it was a home for those children who are children always. We had a great time with those little children who just knew about a smile and nothing else. To add to the Christmas it was also Vijay’s birthday and it was a best time to celebrate it amongst the children there. To Vijay it was the best time.

We also got some nicely wrapped Santa gifts for the children along with Santa caps. The happiness that we experienced to see on the every child’s face made our day. The children were all very happy and so were we. The chocolate cake added to their happiness the sweetness of it to make a sweet day too. All the time we spent there was a great one.

Be it Vijay, who was held by a little girl all the way, be it Yamini who started playing Ring-a-ring roses, and the train game with those children, be it Sukanya who was all wrapped up with the children there, be it Swathi who enjoyed a lot, be it Chandu who was just smiling with those little champions…..everyone were on the top of the world.

The gifts session was very good. When the gift was unwrapped, when those paper balls fell down from the pack, when the child smiled seeing his gift……it was a great feeling that can be only felt and can never be explained.

Amidst all these, there is something that needs a special mention. There is a girl there, Yasmeen Jain who never left Vijay all through the day, and while it was time for us to leave the place, when it was the time for her to say bye to us, she just went inside wiping her tears. We became very emotional to leave that place.

And now, please excuse for ending this post because, I am being emotional to write anything more about those children who made our Christmas so special one. Thanks to Sadhana management for having welcomed us into that paradise of smiles which we have forgotten long back due to our busy schedules….!!!

THANK YOU SADHANA….
MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS….!!!

WE ALSO WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE….!!!!

THE BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT...!!!

HI FRIENDS....!!!

We started this project with no financial support but with only the desire to help. we have not at least thought about the funds to continue the project. But till date, we were able to help people with our own saved pocket money, help from parents, friends, family and college. we from Project AKANKSHA thank heart fully each one of them for making our project a successful one.

Now, its time to thank a special person who knew us only through this web and trusted our project. he has not just trusted the project but he also helped us financially to continue our work. He is Mr.Madhu from U.S.A who has donated some amount to our project so that we can continue with our work.

we, from the bottom of our heart, thank Madhu and his family for his support to our project.

ABOUT SAI SRUSHTI:

After a long time, we were able to make some time to visit the home for children-Sai Srushti. the children are all doing fine and studying well. we have donated some amount that can meet the expenditure on grosseries of the home. we are also planning to sponser a chid for her education and the act is stil in process. we also thank Mr.Avinash for having accepted our idea and the help.

ONE MORE:

we have also helped an Abondoned mother of 9 months old girl twins with providing her employment in our college so that she can meet her daily needs all by herself without depending on her senseless husband. we are happy that we are able to help not only the mother but also those little kids who dont know about this world yet. we also paid for her computer training and for the type institute.
we thank our college management and our HOD who helped her with the job by trusting us. without them we are nothing today.

we are planning with lot more activities and will be soon back with lot more ideas.

THANK YOU..!!! to everyone who supported us in the journey of project AKANKSHA for its success to help people who are in need of help.

HOME FOR ORPHANS--SAI SRUSHTI

hello friends,

with all your good wishes and support, project AKANKSHA is able to do a lot of work and help lot many people as it desired to. this time we are having big project ahead. it is about a home for the orphans and semi orphans. it is named Sai Srushti.

Sai Srushti is a home for 10 children who dreamt to study an year before and living their dream now. this is a home started by Mr. Avinash, a software engineer in hyderabad with a goal to educate children. he is running this home with all his efforts and his own salary. "i dont want to gather lot many chlildren and collect funds in a huge amount.i wish to have limited children and do them equal justice." says Avinash. the point to be noted here is that all the children here are girls except one.

he happened to visit our blog from another blog where all such addresses are specified and mailed us about his work. when we knew about it, we were not that sure about how to help him or very basically whether to help him or not but still we decided to meet him and discuss about it.
We met him one fine day and spoke to the girls too... the girls there are very happy for being the part of the home....every child there is studying in a corporate school and pursuing good education....

we decided to partially adopt it by spending for the grosseries from akanskha.we are going to help with the rice, dal etc..... so that he can spend that amount for another child's education....

hope we get some new idea frm u...!!!!

FREE HEALTH CAMP IN ASSOCIATION WITH RED CROSS

HEALTH IS WEALTH. This are the words that are very true in the real life. every human being can fulfil all his dreams only when he is healthy. we can be happy when we are health andy happiness is something that allows us to do everything that we wish to. so be healthy and so, you will be happy.

this is what AKANKSHA feels the importance of health. so, we organised a Free Health Camp on september 5th 2008 in association with the Indian Red Cross Society at Maisammaguda.. we had an opthamologist, a dentist, a gynaecologist, and a general physician as the team of doctors who serverd the people.

Around 150 villagers of all age groups attended the camp and got the health check-up. also, 4 of them were then taken to a free cateract surgery by the Lions Club Sadhuram Hospital.

we were very happy to be helpful to the villagers. we were satisfied when a few of the villagers asked us to conduct it very often. we very on the top of the world when our management appreciated our work and our team for dong so. when our director sir Mr.MallaReddy spoke about how happy he for the work we do, we were dumb then and now we searching for words to express it.

we hope to continue it as far as we can........

with egards,

OUR TEAM...!!!

hey friends...!!!
we find many of you praising our work. thanks a lot for that. we hope to continue it as far as we can and help as many people as possible.

we have received many mails about who we are, why did we start this project and what are we going to do. so we thought it wud be better if it is directly posted in the blog so that every one who visits it wud know about us.

project AKANKSHA--desire2help

--------------------------------------------

we are a team of five, all of them studying b.tech final year(as of now) in an engineering college in Hyderabad. we are chandra sekhar(chandu), vijay Bhargav(vijay), swathi durga( swathi), sukanya reddy(sukku) and yamini meduri(yamini).

one day we just bunked our classes and sat in the library and were discussing about everything in the world. then suddely we came up with an idea of visiting an orphanage to which all of us agreed. then we took it seriously and wished to give it a name and hence AKANKSHA took its birth.(note: it is not named after anyone. Akanksha means desire)

we first started the project by distributing geometry boxes to the poor students of a govt. school where students were poor enough that they couldn't afford to buy a geometry box by themselves so as to attend their Xth class exams. we started it with our pocket money and we are continuing it with the help from families, relatives and friends.

we then visited and orphanage and provided a one day meal to them. we very often visit the home and spend time with the children there. we feel utmost happiness when we go there. we also collect some used clothes and give it to them. we are also planning to provide the stationary like books, pencils etc..

we have started a campaign on global warming and we visit many engineering colleges and give out a seminar about how to reduce the effect of global warming and we give them simple tips too. we also had a campaign in nearly five colleges during the Hyderabad Unplug event. the campaign of the global warming is a good success and hope to over it in all the engg colleges of hyderabad at least.

meanwhile , yamini and vijay have become the life members of the Indian Red Cross Society and also we got our college registered under the youth Red Cross Wing. In association with Red Cross we are organizing free health camps, blood donation camps in the college, and volunteer the people during the disasters.

to do all these we need funds. as of now, we didn't ask anyone to sponsor for Akanksha. it was our parents, friends and management who helped us alot and we are all thankful to them. but inorder to carry on the events it is not possible with these funds. so we have started anothe project named ALANKRITI where we conduct certain essay writing and drawing competetions to the students of corporate schools and collect Rs. 10/- from every child who participates(for more details check out the previous post).

we are now in a process of adopting a small orphanage by bearing 40% of the expenditure by giving them rice etc...

till date, these are wat we are doing and wat we are going to do...i hope everyone of u reading this wish all the good luck so to continue it as far as we can....

for the future events check out this blog.

with regards,

ITS TIME FOR 'ALANKRITHI'-new project of akanksha

we from project AKANKSHA need funds in order to help the needy. so we have started a separate program on behalf of project AKANKSHA named "ALANKRITHI" which is basically a competition to the students of certain corporate classes. we conduct essay writing, elocution, and drawing competition to the students and hence collect rs.10-rs.15 from them for registering.

For doing so, we have selected Siddhartha High School in Hyderabad and started this program. we got a good response from the students with nearly 200 students from various schools participating. on the eve of independence day, we have given the prizes to the best essays and drawings.

<--our team mate, Vijay Bhargav monitoring the participants. its yamini 's turn now

DO WE NEED THE PERMISSION TO HELP…!!!

dear friends.....

We have started our project to help some one who is in need of help. We are already doing it in a way that we can. May it be providing meal to the orphans, may it be the campaign on global warming, may it be helping the students of government schools, may it be organizing health camps etc. But de we need to have some permission to do all these??? Are we needed to wait for someone to permit us to help some one who is in need of help???

Let me explain you a situation. If you are driving on the road and you suddenly saw an accident. The person who was hurt is bleeding and you wanted to help him by calling an ambulance and taking him to the near by hospital and get him the proper medication as fast as possible. Will you just do it by picking up your mobile phone or will you wait for some one to permit you to do it??? Will you call up your parents and ask them permission to help him?? Will you behave as a great human being or a timid individual???

What if you are asked to behave as the timid individual??? What if, you are asked to take the permission of your parents, your college principal, and someone else too??? these are not the words that we are telling it all by ourselves.

These are the words of a DEAN of a college. We were not permitted to do our campaign about the global warming in his college, but were blamed for doing such work. We were asked to get the permission from the parents( in written. Though we have it all) to help others. We were given a one hour lecture for having doing it and were still not allowed to do it. Are we really wasting our time thinking about the society or is the DEAN wrong?????

Just think of it… and let us know your views through a comment………

CHILD LABOR...!!!!

All the children tend to have the same attitude and same stamina. But why are they treated in a different way? Why are some enjoying the life while some suffer all the miseries in life in such a small age??? Yes, we are talking about the child labor.

Think of something like working for the entire day in the hot sun lifting bricks at the age of seven or eight. Think of hitting a hammer on the iron rod at the age of nine or ten. Think of washing plates in a hotel at the age of five or six. Think of the boy begging on the road from the age of four. Think of the boy taking care of the child of a family at the age of ten or eleven. How horrible is it????

But still, we don’t think of the better well being of the kid. We never think for the ways to get him out of that work he does. Many of us think of a better life of our children but never think about someone who takes care of them in our absence. It is found that one in every six children is engaged as a child labor. It means that every sixth child is being ruined in his life. "In Africa, one child in three is at work, and in Latin America, one child in five works. In both these continents, only a tiny proportion of child workers are involved in the formal sector and the vast majority of work is for their families, in homes, in the fields or on the streets." -- Unicef’s 1997 State of the World’s Children Report.

Is this what is expected from us??? Is this what is to be continued??? I asked ….my answer is a big NO. help a child in his life and you can see our country developing by itself. Help child enjoy the life not with the hammer but with bat, not with brick but with a book, not with the miseries but with the happiness. DO IT NOW AND FEEL THE HAPPINESS. ALL DA VERY BEST.

A SERIOUS PROBLEM...!!!

hey frnds...
have u ever imagined the planet earth with no tree??? have u ever imagined the winter day to cross a min temperature of 50-60C??? have ever imagined a kid asking his mom wat a rain drop is??? have you ever imagined the planet with no animals or no water or no humans???? HARD TO IMAGINE...RIGHT????

but this is what our future is....our children will suffer these situations if we
continue to be like this. this is because of the serious problem--"GLOBAL WARMING".

GLOBAL WARMING is the increase in Earth's temperature. the various daily activities that we perform are increasing the temperature of the planet and hence resulting in such a serious problem.

WAT DO WE DO????
there are many simple things that we can follow so that we can reduce the effect on global warming. they are very simple and in general, any individual can follow them. they are::
1.Afforestration.
2.Compact fluorescent bulbs.
3.Use of renewable energy sources.
4.Reducing the usage of the heat emitting energy resources.
5.Reduce the usage of plastics and increase use of paper bags.
6.Use public transportation for small distances.
7.Effective use of dust bins
8.reduce reuse recycle
9.check the infaltion of the tyres of ur bike or car.
10.discuss about the problem of global warming.
11.Feel responsible as a human being.

these are all very simple tips which anyone can follow. so do follow them and save our planet Earth.

save the planet to show it to our children. lets fight against global warming.

WE HAVE ALREADY STARTED THE CAMPAIGN TO FIGHT AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING. TO HELP OUR CHILDREN TAKE BIRTH ON A COOL EARTH, LETS JOIN HANDS.

with all the best wishes

THINK ABOUT IT...!!!

DEAR FRIENDS...

we generally think about people who are around us. we think about wat to buy as a birhtday gift to our dear ones. we think about wat to do this weekend. we think about wat to have for the lunch. we think about how to spend the money we have

BUT,
had we ever think about wat do the people living on the pavements live like??? how do the orpahanages being run??? how does a poor boy willing to study but couldnot coz his parents dont allow to feel like??? what do the children begging on the streets eat??? wat do the old man near the traffic signal live on the road side pavement??? how will a lonely women feed her children???

IS IT,
is it the child's fault to be born in a poor family??? is it the fault of the parent to give birth to a child even if they are not in a situatiion to feed them??? is it the fault of God to make people poor??? is it the government who is making them live like that??? is it we who are faulty for not thinking about them???

WE CAN,
we can think about this anytime and discuss it with any number of people. but do we really do it???

THIS IS WAT WE DO.
we think about the taste of a burger sitting in a AC room while children await near a road side hotel to find some left away food. we think about buying the new dress in the mall while a child wears a completely torn dress. we think about a good school for our baby while a child strives to learn under a streetlight. we think about the new luxurious home while people live their life on the pavement. we think of a better car while children walk kilometres together with bare foot. we think of increasing the temperature of the AC in the afternoon of the mid summer while people live hapily with the hot sun burning on their head. we think about a nice kashmiri swaeter in the winter while a old man shivers to the cold. we think of a raincoat to our child while a kid on the road suffers the sickness of the rain. we think of the regular checkup with the doctor while people live with all the illness in the world.

IS THIS WAT WE SHUD DO????
if asked , then the answer is a big NO. think about the prople who are suffering with all the problems in the world. think about the children who are wish to study. think about the old who suffer the climate.
just spread your habd to help the people who are in need of help. help someone and enjoy the hapiness in it(as we do). be a responsible citizen and help the one who desreves it. help may be in any form but do it.

with all da best wishes,
projectAKANKSHA

sahayam...!!!
